4 Steps Being a More Authentic Speaker

4 Steps Being a More Authentic Speaker

Part of being an impactful leader and speaker is having a healthy form of attachment to ourselves and others.

Dr. Gabor Mate has talked about the importance of having a healthy attachment to be our healthiest selves, and if this doesn’t happen, we can strive through self-discovery practices.

How do you be more authentic?

First – Be aware.  Awareness grounds us into our being.  The more sensitive you are, the more you experience fear.  As a creative artist, I can relate to the worry of others not appreciating my ideas or work.

Second – Be clear on acceptance.  Be in a space of allowing, surrendering to allowing things and people to be as they are, not wishing to change them.

Third – Let go of inner anger.  Be clear on the demands you and others place on you.  Ask if this is what you really want to be doing.

Finally – Have agency.  Take the responsibility for your existence and choices you make, without being passive.

When you work through these series, Dr. Mate says, you’ll have more of a capacity to truly be authentic, the real self.

Then your light can truly shine
